2007 VORTEX KARTING SEASON
2007 CIK-FIA WORLD KARTING CHAMPS FOR DRIVERS & WORLD CUP FOR KF2

VORTEX GAINED THE WHOLE KF1 WORLD PODIUM

The World Championship in Mariembourg became a great triumph to Vortex. Our RAV engines ended an unforgettable season with a wonderful success, monopolizing the world podium! To us the World Championship in Mariembourg began in a good way, starting from the qualifying with five Vortex in the first five positions. Gary Catt (Tony Kart-Vortex) reached the pole with a fantastic lap time of 53”530, just in front of the future World Champion Marco Ardig̣. At the end of the heat, we gained five victories out of six, thanks to Gary Catt (3 victories), Ardig̣ and Bollingtoft, getting a victory each. The conclusive race consisted in a fight between our drivers, especially between Marco Ardig̣ and Gary Catt. Marco, after wonderfully springing from the second position, won in the prefinal, and gained the first row for the Final. From the first position Ardig̣ did it right, he led the race springing like a thunder and in the first laps he gained a great margin from his rivals (about 1”): Gary Catt, Niko Bollingtoft, all with Vortex engine. The competitors could never reach the first three positions and this World Championship is a great and exciting parade for our colours. After all the excellent performances of our official Teams , in primis Tony Kart and Kosmic with their drivers, we have to acknowledge the opponents’ good performances, who proved, with the hard work they carried out, how reliable and well manageable is  our engine. Kevin Cuoco and Julien Poncelet, both from KC Vendrell Team, are finalists in the KF1 category. The work carried out by Morsicani Teams was very good as well, they reached the podium with Camponeschi in the KF2 class, Rocky Flynn Motorsport with Foster Jones, Ward Racing Team with Wernersson and the English Team Strawberry. In the KF2 category, Votrex honour has been perfectly saved by our private partners. Our official team experienced an unlucky week end in the KF2 World Cup, the European Champion Will Stevens (Vortex-Tony Kart-Dunlop) before being slowed down due to a banal failure, clearly proved to have the right potential to aim at the top positions.

Giovanni Corona – Presidente Vortex s.rl.
“It is undoubt, this World Championship comes at the end of a season rich in satisfaction and successes. We made anew engine, the RAV, for the KF1 class and this showed itself immediately as a winner giving us good satisfaction and demonstrating that the researches made , even the ones in the past years, went in the good direction. In fact we use to consider all the thing that we develop and we keep them with jealousy, also in case that this innovation do not arrive directly on the track. The World Championship is the prize for all my collaborators, qualified and skilled persons  that hardly worked and ended successfully the development project that we decided at the beginning of the season.” You produced two powerful engines, the RAV for the KF1 class and the RVX for the shifter class, the KZ. These two engines have always been winning. “Yes. These two engines are really the best synthesis of our experiences and all the information we collected, both inside the company, at the test stand, both at the track with our Racing Teams. We have always undertook to improve and refine the engines preparation. We are aware that our competitors improved their performances as well. For this reason, we planned, starting from the beginning of the season, an intense development work and, for sure, we won’t stop now in this work. After all the victories we gained, it would be an unforgivable fault.”

Marco Ardig̣ – driver Tony Kart Racing Team categoria  KF1 WORLD CHAMPION
“I cannot realize that I have just conquered this Title, that I have always been pursuing... This Title is very important to me, not only because this is my first World Championship, but also because it is the first Championship with the new engine, KF1, very important for Tony Kart and Vortex, as well. As I said, I am particularly happy for the Team, but for sure my personal satisfaction is really great!" You have been at the top during the whole Final, did you work hard to keep the gap you gained from your team-mate? "I pushed hard during the whole race, never giving up, I didn't want Gary to reach me. This is a World Championship and nobody of us, between Gary and me, wanted to give in. Gary is a very fast driver and the Team put us in the condition to compare ourselves, with the same material, also in the occasion of this important event and, in the end, we made a wonderful race... Now, I want to celebrate!"

Gary Catt – driver Tony Kart Racing Team KF1 VICE WORLD CHAMPION
“If, before arriving in Tony Kart, someone had told me that one day in my life I could catch this result, I could not believe it. I am very happy but, you know, when you just arrive for second you feel some bitter flavour in your mouth. From yesterday, we were very fast in each manche and on Friday we were fats too, so I thought I could have won, but at the end the result was a second place. I think this is a fantastic result for me and for all the Team : Marco really did a great job winning both the prefinal and the final, I tried to follow him but he faced the race without any problem. I think that it is an immense joy for him today , we two, we all gave our best and he is the World Champion!”

Nikolaj Bollingtoft - driver Kosmic Racing Department KF1: 3° classified

“it has really been an amazing weekend, a big satisfaction after such a hard work. From the test we made two weeks ago, I noticed we were very fast and I was optimist. In fact both on Friday and Saturday I scored good times that let me start as 3rd in the Final. In the final after the first bend I tried to stay sticked to Marco Ardig̣ but he was too fast and after some laps he flew away. Catt also reached me and overtook me : he was much faster than me. I had to save my 3rd position the same and I kept my concentration high in order to maintain good times. I also had some problems with the tyres because it’s hard to race on this track, especially at the end of the race the back tyres had no grip and slided away. The engine and the chassis were perfect. I am pretty much satisfied, we made a good job.”

Benjamin Bailly - driver Kosmic Racing Department KF1: 5° classified
“This was my first World Championship and I am very happy about the result. I made a good job, both with my mechanic and all the Team, we had a perfect set-up. I was in the front since the free practice on Friday. It was really exciting to race the World Championship in my Country, having all my family and my fans that came to support me and watching my good results. It was a very positive week-end for all the Team because both me and Niko Bollingtoft got good results and Kosmic was just second behind Tony Kart in the World Rating”

Alessandro Bressan - driver Kosmic Racing Department KF1: 9° classified
“I would have signed if they told me that this would have been my result at the World Championship! I raced an excellent race, after having some troubles in the prefinal, but in the fina we succeeded in being in the front with the head-group. In a certain moment I also hoped to reach the podium, then it was impossible but anyway I am very happy with the result. My result was also important for the Team, because having 3 drivers among the first ten position is not a little thing, this is a cool satisfaction!”
