Vortex at the top at the European at Val D'Argenton

02-05-2024

In the second round of the FIA Karting European Championship OK-OKJ in France, the VTS engine is always in the top positions throughout the weekend and finishes the “Senior” final in fifth place.

OK - There are 76 drivers at the start of the “Senior”, a category in which the VTS engine consistently occupies the top ranks with David Walther (Tony Kart Racing Team) and Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart Racing Team). Together, the two teammates accumulate a haul of one win and seven podiums, to which is added a second place by the Danish driver in Super Heat B. Sunday morning's standings therefore see Walther on the front row of the grid for the final.

At the start of the last race of the weekend, Walther is immediately at the center of the tussle of the leading group and, after the frantic initial laps, thanks to a shrewd and error-free conduct, he seizes the Top 5 final and collects important points for the continuation of the championship.

Pavan, on the other hand, sees his performance in the final compromised due to the hard hand-to-hand combat recorded in the first half of the standings, but he is still the second classified driver with the Vortex VTS engine that, with its performance qualities, allows Xavier Avramides (Tony Kart Racing Team) to regain 13 positions. Finally, Tiziano Monza (Tony Kart Racing Team) also participates in the final.

OKJ - The “Junior” also has a large participation in terms of entries, with 87 drivers at the start of the second round at Val d'Argenton, a track that saw the victory of the VTJ engine two weeks earlier, at the Champions of the Future Euro Series. Free practice saw Joel Pohjola (Tony Kart Racing Team) set the best time in his grouping, but the Finn was unlucky both in qualifying, thanks to the sudden appearance of rain, and in the qualifying heat, where he unfortunately collected a retirement.

Holding high the colors of Vortex in Sunday's final is Scott Marsh (Tony Kart Racing Team), best “climber” of the race with 17 positions gained compared to the start.  An accident at the first corner, however, forced Ilie Tristan Crisan (Tony Kart Racing Team) to raise the white flag prematurely.

FIA Karting Academy Trophy - For the ninth consecutive year, Vortex Engines and Exprit Kart - both OTK Kart Group brands - are involved at the forefront of this one-make championship, promoted by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The goal of the Trophy is to facilitate access to karting for young people between the ages of 12 and 14, from all over the world and chosen by the ASNs of their countries of reference. The technical package offered by Vortex Engines - Exprit Kart, thanks to its winning and multi-year experience in major international competitions - ensures identical performance for all. In the opening stage of Val d'Argenton, the victory goes in the hands of Jakub Gasparovic (Slovakia), able to precede on the podium Wian Boshoff (South Africa) and Dan Allemann (Switzerland).
