Vortex leader in Spain at the OK-OKJ european championship

At the Kartodromo Internacional Lucas Guerrero in Valencia, the OTK Kart Group’s “engine division” is competing in the second round of the FIA Karting European Championship OK-OKJ and is also participating in the first round of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy Senior as a supplier.

OKJ – In a category featuring 92 verified drivers on the starting grid, Vortex Engines kicked off Friday with Julian Frasnelli (Tony Kart Racing Team) taking second place in the second free practice group and Stepan Mazepin (Tony Kart Racing Team) posting the third-fastest time in the first qualifying group. Our engines secured two second-place finishes as the best results in the subsequent qualifying heats, proving competitive in both dry and wet conditions.

The final saw Frasnelli start from the sixth row, on the less-than-ideal outside line that compromised his race outcome. After a heated battle in the middle of the pack, the Italian finished the race ahead of his teammate Emerson MacAndrew-Uren (Tony Kart Racing Team), who managed to gain seven positions from his starting spot.

OK – A total of 83 participants took part in the second round of the championship, in which our “Senior” engine stood out as early as qualifying, thanks to Jindřich Pešl’s (Tony Kart Racing Team) third-place finish in Group 1. During the qualifying heats, he secured another third place, though this was followed by two retirements due to contact with opponents. Pešl started from the back of the grid in the final and made up nine positions. Thomas Pradier (Tony Kart Racing Team) saw his race end prematurely after impressing in Super Heat B with a 16-position climb.

Academy-Senior – For the eleventh consecutive year, Vortex Engines and Exprit Kart (both brands of the OTK Kart Group) are partnering with FIA Karting to promote the FIA Karting Academy Trophy. Following last year’s debut, the “Senior” class kicks off the new season with 45 drivers, aged between 14 and 16. All can count on the many years of experience of Vortex Engines and Exprit Kart, which ensure identical performance for everyone. Alexis Genolet (Switzerland) won Sunday’s final, joined on the podium by Oliver Kurg (Estonia) and Albert Lapper (United Kingdom).
